Digital accessibility: myths to forget
Too expensive, only for big groups, ugly, useless for my site... We debunk the most persistent myths.
Accessibility carries a few myths that hold businesses back. Here they are, and why they are false.
"It's too expensive"
Most priority fixes are quick and inexpensive. What costs a lot is waiting, redoing everything late, or losing customers silently.
"It's only for big groups"
The EAA also concerns small e-commerce and digital service businesses. And a small team can perfectly well progress step by step.
"An accessible site is necessarily ugly"
False. Accessibility is about structure, contrast and operation, not style. The most accessible sites are often the most polished.
"An overlay solves the problem"
No. An overlay does not fix the code and can hinder screen-reader users. Only real fixes make a site durably compliant.
"It doesn't concern my industry"
The EAA covers a broad scope, and accessibility benefits every site by widening the audience and improving search ranking.
