Webflow

Webflow gives the designer near-total control of the markup. It is the tool of the best sites and the worst: compliance there is a matter of skill, not platform.

Unlike closed editors, Webflow lets you choose the tag of every element, structure headings freely and write attributes. The designer therefore carries the responsibility other platforms take on in their place: nothing is broken in advance, nothing is guaranteed either.

The levers specific to Webflow

• The Designer's audit panel flags missing text alternatives and skips in heading order before publishing: a native guardrail to enable systematically.
• Semantic tags are chosen element by element: navigation, section, button rather than a stack of neutral blocks.
• CMS collections standardise templates: a fix on the template applies to every page that depends on it.

The typical traps of Webflow sites

• Interactions and animations: spectacular, they must honour the reduced-motion preference and remain keyboard operable.
• Fake buttons: a styled clickable block is neither a link nor a button for a screen reader, as long as the tag is wrong.
• Menus built from blocks: without roles and focus management, they are hard to traverse with a keyboard.
• Thin typography on light backgrounds, often chosen for aesthetics at the expense of measured contrast.

An honest note about our data

Our 2026 panels, focused on established French e-commerce, contained no Webflow site: we therefore publish no statistic specific to this platform. To place a given site, the scan measures the published page as your visitors receive it.
