WCAG 2.2

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines: the international W3C standard defining how to make web content accessible. Version 2.2 is the current reference.

WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) are published by the W3C. They are the global reference standard for web accessibility and underpin most regulations, including the European EN 301 549 standard.

The three levels

Criteria are organised into three levels: A (minimum), AA (the level targeted by most legal obligations) and AAA (the most demanding). The conformance required for the EAA corresponds to level AA.

The four principles

All content must be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust. Each principle groups testable success criteria, for example colour contrast, text alternatives or keyboard navigation.
