Public bodies have been subject for several years to accessibility obligations from directive 2016/2102.

Directive (EU) 2016/2102 requires the accessibility of public sector websites and apps, with an accessibility statement and a multi-year plan. Audits and complaints are increasing.

Common obligations

• Conformance to level AA of the EN 301 549 standard.
• Publication of an up-to-date accessibility statement.
• A stated accessibility status and a reporting channel.
• A documented accessibility roadmap.

A regular audit and an up-to-date statement are the best protection against breaches.
